DHS Field Hockey Wins Pool in Gateway Classic
With two wins and a tie in hot conditions, the Warriors continue their strong start to the 2015 season.
The Deerfield High School field hockey team is coming off another successful week, splitting two dual matches and winning their pool in the St. Louis Gateway Classic over the weekend.
Following their first loss of the season - a 2-0 defeat to Oak Park-River Forest - the Warriors bounced back strong against Homewood-Flossmoor with a 3-0 win.
Kate Shimamoto (assist by Ariel Feldman), Jess Sternberg and Laura Chaglasian (assist by Rosie Brodsky) counted for the goals in the victory.

The Warriors picked up two wins and a tie in the Gateway Classic.
Sophie Lackner scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Barat Academy. Sternberg scored on an assist from Leah Shulman in a 1-1 tie against Presentation.

Caylee Silvers Jessica Goldman (assist Shulman) scored in a 2-1 win over Parkway West.
“The girls worked very well and battled 95-100 degree temperatures in St. Louis,” said head coach Samantha Brown.
The Warriors have a tough week ahead of them, with games scheduled against defending state champion New Trier and state semifinalist Lake Forest Academy.
