DHS Gymnast Wins State Vault Title

Deerfield High School senior Heath Ogawa’s vault score of 9.50 held up to be best in state at the gymnastics championship meet held on May 16 at Hinsdale Central, according to the Deerfield Review.

Ogawa is the second state champion coached by gymnastics coach Doug Foerch in his 13 years at DHS. Larry Milstein won the parallel bars in 2005 when the team existed as a Deerfield-Highland Park co-op.

“It’s a dream come true, Foerch said of Ogawa. “It’s something he’ll have to hang on to for the rest of his life.”
