DHS Wins First State Trophy For Boys Gymnastics

DEERFIELD, IL — Even though each of the other seven teams that qualified had an average of 1,200 more students, Deerfield High School's boys gymnastics team brought home its first trophy from state level competition.

The Warriors finished in third place, only fractions of a point short of winners Glen Ellyn, earlier this month at the IHSA state championships in Hinsdale.

The following are the top finishes for each DHS gymnast:

  • 3rd on Pommel Horse
  • 10th on both Still Rings and Parallel bars
• Louie Solovy
  • 4th on both Floor Ex. and Horizontal Bar
  • 8th in the All-Around
• Clayton Petrasek
  • 5th on Still Rings
  • 9th on Parallel bars
• Grant Baucom
  • 10th on Horizontal Bar
• Will Kruse
  • 11th in the All-Around
  • 12th Floor Ex.
  • 16th Parallel Bars
  • 17th Pommel Horse
• Matthew Kroscher
  • 13th Pommel Horse
• Micheal Norwesh
  • 28th Floor Ex.
