DHS Wrestling Wins Conference Title for 8th Straight Year
The varsity team's second straight Regional title also means they could play for state glory.

DEERFIELD, IL - The Deerfield High School wrestling team is coming off its eighth consecutive Central Suburban League championship and last weekend won their regional for the second year in a row.
The Warriors edged Stevenson in the final championship round of the regional and have earned the right to compete as a team in the Sectional on Tuesday, Feb. 23 against Hononegah High School.
Individually, the Warriors placed nine wrestlers at the Regional and seven have advanced to the Barrington sectional. Placing for Deerfield were Reece Heller: 3rd at 106 (Fr.), Holden Heller: 1st at 113 (So.), Aaron Brailov: 3rd at 120 (Jr.), Nick Kupets: 1st at 126 (Sr.), Kenny Kerstein: 1st at 132 (So.), Andrew Mehrholz: 1st at 145 (Sr.), Alex Burns: 4th at 152 (Jr.), Sage Heller: 1st at 170 (Sr.) and Erin Karp: 4th at 195 (Jr.).

Heller, a 170 lb. two-time state qualifier and conference champion, was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler in the CSL’s North Division. He’s the ninth Warrior wrestler to receive the award in the last 10 years.
The Deerfield junior varsity and freshmen teams also won conference as a team this year.
