Felony Arrests Made In Catalytic Converter Thefts: Riverwoods PD Blotter

A local business had reported in January two men posing as buyers had stolen scrapped catalytic converters before fleeing in their vehicle.

RIVERWOODS, IL — The following information comes from the Riverwoods Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Following a nearly three-week investigation, arrests have been made in a January incident in which an area business reported two men posing as buyers had stolen three scrapped catalytic converters before fleeing the scene in their vehicle. Michael Ely, 48, of the 3800 block of the 3800 block of N. Kilpatrick Avenue, Chicago, and Christopher T. Miller, 21, of the 3500 block of W. The incident occurred at around 3:28 p.m. Jan. 23, at a business in the 700 block of Saunders Road. The subsequent investigation led the identification of the vehicle involved and both suspects. At 11:59 a.m. Tuesday, Riverwoods police located the vehicle and engaged in a traffic stop near Deerfield Road and the I-94 overpass, where the men were arrested.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

  • Traquan Devante Hudson, 22, of the 1300 block of Brook Street, St. Charles, is accused of improper lane usage, open transportation of alcohol by a driver, driving under the influence of alcohol, and was arrested at 2:52 a.m. Feb. 1, near Milwaukee Avenue and Deerfield Road. He was released and assigned a court date of Feb. 26.
  • Adam Jamie Spence, 44, Olathe, Kansas, is accused of speeding, DUI alcohol, and was arrested at 11:11 p.m. Feb. 3, near Lake Cook and Portwine roads. He was released and assigned a court date of Feb. 26.
