Firefighters Rescue 3 Northbrook Teens Stuck on Top of a Deerfield Water Tower
The kids scaled the tower Friday night, but they were too scared to climb back down.

DEERFIELD, IL — What looked like a good idea on the ground to three kids seemed less so 140 feet up in the air Friday. That was the case when three Northbrook teens scaled a Deerfield water tower Friday night and couldn't climb down, according to the Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Department.
Deerfield police spotted the teens on the tower while on patrol, and the fire department was then called to the scene. Specially trained firefighters from the department rescued the teens by attaching harnesses to them and lowering them to the ground. The rescuers also were assisted from departments in neighboring communities.
"They climbed to the top of the tower and were too afraid to get down," Deputy Fire Chief Ray Larson told the Deerfield Review.
