Holy Cross Boys Varsity Volleyball Brings Home a Second Perfect Season & Championship Win!

Coach Patti DeWald, who has been coaching Boys’ Varsity Volleyball at Holy Cross for the past five years, attributes the team’s success to their ability to play as a team as they know each other on and off the court. “In addition to using the school’s smaller size to their advantage, the boys learned basic skills starting in 6th grade, and made improvements over the next two years. It’s great to see them showing the same level of respect for each other, as they do for their coaches. They are a wonderful group of boys!”

The team went undefeated in 2014 (15 Wins, 0 Loss Season) and won the conference championship. They went undefeated again during the 2015 season (16-0) beating Pope John on May 29th to win the conference and beat St. Norbert’s and St. Joe’s in the playoffs for the championship.

Coach DeWald, whose accomplishments include four undefeated Varsity Volleyball teams and conference wins at Holy Cross (girls’ and boys’), has two assistant coaches: Andy Stavros of Lincolnshire who has coached Boys’ Varsity Volleyball for the past 3 years and Tim Gassmere of Deerfield who completed his first season with the team.
