Horizon Therapeutics Among State's Best Workplaces For Women

DEERFIELD, IL — When choosing a place to work, most women want to feel safe, heard, challenged and valued. According to a new ranking, Deerfield-based Horizon Therapeutics is going above and beyond to provide this for women.

Fortune, in partnership with analytics firm Great Place To Work, released its 2021 list of Best Workplaces For Women on Thursday. Based on feedback from more than 5.6 million U.S. employees, Fortune ranked the 75 best large workplaces as well as the 25 best small and medium-size workplaces.

Horizon Therapeutics, located at 1 Horizon Way, is described as a "global biotechnology company driven by a simple idea: we believe that science and compassion must work together to transform lives."

A total of three companies in Illinois made the list of best large workplaces. Leading the way is Chicago-based Hyatt Hotels Corporation, which is ranked 10.

Here are the three best large workplaces for women in Illinois:

2. Horizon Therapeutics, Deerfield (Ranked 36)
3. RSM US LLP, Chicago (Ranked 37)

To determine the best workplaces for women, Great Place To Work asked employees to respond to 60 survey questions. Companies are then ranked based on the anonymous feedback received.

A company’s ranking is primarily determined by what women report about their workplace, and how fairly those experiences compare to men’s reports of the same workplaces. For the third consecutive year, Hilton Worldwide Inc. was named the Best Workplace For Women. According to survey feedback, the McLean, Virginia-based company “creates a true sense of belonging and is focused on Team Members first.”

3. Bank of America, Charlotte, North Carolina
4. New American Funding, Tustin, California
5. Progressive Insurance, Mayfield Village, Ohio
6. Pinnacle Financial Partners, Nashville, Tennessee
7. Noom, New York City
8. PrimeLending, Dallas, Texas
9. Cisco, San Jose, California
10. Hyatt Hotels, Chicago

Utah-based Chatbooks was named the best small or medium-size workplace for women, followed by Curology in San Francisco and Bitwise Industries in Fresno, California.
