It's Time To Do More With Less In West Deerfield
Taxpayers forced to make do with less at home while township officials increase their pay six-percent

Officials in West Deerfield Township are simply out of touch. Putting through generous pay increases and extending additional benefits to elected officials at a time when we, as taxpayers, are struggling to make ends meet is unacceptable. Particularly for part-time work.
Moraine Township's total revenue is over 50% larger than that of West Deerfield, yet they recently enacted sweeping reductions in elected payroll reflective of the part-time nature of their work and to reduce the burden on taxpayers. As a percentage of taxes levied, West Deerfield officials remove more than twice as much money from the township to pay their salaries than our neighbors in Moraine.
This money could be used to expand food pantry services to reach the food-insecure in our area, partner with ride share services to expand the service area for those trying to make medical appointments, increase nonprofit grant programs or simply provide relief to taxpayers.

As a candidate for Supervisor, I have pledged to voluntarily reduce my compensation by 40% and waive all benefits to help achieve those goals outlined above. My running mates on the West Deerfield Republican Township Team have also taken this pledge. On day one, this will return of $50,000 to the township's coffers.
Townships are about providing service to the elderly and those in need. They aren't about lining elected officials' pockets.
