Jewelry Thief Lived With Victim: Police
Deerfield police accuse Kurtis Johansson of reporting a residential burglary that never occurred.

DEERFIELD, IL - A Deerfield man who told police last month someone had broken into his home and stole jewelry that belonged to a family member actually stole the jewelry himself, police said.
An investigation by Deerfield police revealed that Kurtis Johansson, 35, of the 1100 block of Meadowbrook Lane had stolen the jewelry and sold the pieces at a pawn shop on Nov. 23, according to the Deerfield Review. He called police four days later to report a residential burglary police say never occurred.
