Shooting Cancels Family Days, Parade In Deerfield

Following a mass shooting in Highland Park, all activities scheduled for Monday afternoon and night have been canceled.

UPDATE: Due to a mass shooting in Highland Park Monday, all 4th of July related activities in Deerfield have been canceled.

The Village of Deerfield said in a statement:

"Due to a shooting in Highland Park, Family Days activities at Jewett Park have been cleared and the parade is canceled. Please share that the parade activities are canceled with your family and friends."

The Deerfield Police Department said it is assisting Highland Park in the search for the shooter. The suspect is still at large.

"Please be cautious and stay indoors, if possible. Report any suspicious activity you see to the Deerfield Police Department at 911," the Village said in a statment. "If you have any information about the shooting, call the FBI Tip Line at 1-800-CALL-FBI (800-225-5324). Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available. Our thoughts go out to all those impacted by this senseless shooting."
