Lake County Police Cite 48, Arrest 5 During St. Paddy's Day Campaign

The enforcement effort is funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — As it does throughout the year during holidays when there is an increase in unsafe drivers on the road due to impairment, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners in a St. Patrick’s Day enforcement campaign.

According to the LCSO, five arrests were made during the campaign — three for driving under the influence, one for driving with a suspended license and one for driving without a driver's license. In addition, the following citations were made:

  • 22 citations for speeding
  • 10 for not wearing a seat belt
  • 4 for operating an uninsured motor vehicle
  • 3 for distracted driving
  • 1 for illegal transportation of cannabis
  • 5 for other moving violations
