Lake Forest Civic Orchestra Celebrates Music of Great Britain

You are warmly invited to the Gorton Center's John and Nancy Hughes Auditorium to hear great classical works by famous British composers.

The Lake Forest Civic Orchestra, your community orchestra, performs music by great British composers at its upcoming concert on Sunday, March 20, at 4 pm in the Gorton Community Center’s John and Nancy Hughes auditorium.

The LFCO will perform Enigma Variations by Edward Elgar, In a Summer Garden by Frederick Delius, Tune from County Derry “Danny Boy” by Percy Grainger, and Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten by Arvo Part.

Your community orchestra is also delighted to share here its recently updated mission statement, reflecting its fresh outreach and connection to the local communities:

The Lake Forest Civic Orchestra is a member-funded and donor-supported community orchestra dedicated to performing high quality orchestral repertoire on the North Shore.

Our full-size orchestra, consisting of dedicated volunteer musicians under the guidance of a professional Music Director, is formed of members of the local community, for the benefit of the local community.

In addition to our orchestral concert series at the Gorton Community Center, we also:

  • offer scholarship programs for young musicians,
  • provide chamber performances at senior centers and other community venues,

The March 20, 2016, concert marks Music Director Robert Nordling’s third appearance as LFCO music director. He was selected last year to lead the orchestra after a year-long search.
