DEERFIELD, IL - The man killed during a shoot out with police on a Metra train at the Deerfield station Friday night was a suspect in a homicide in south suburban Evergreen Park the night before.
The suspect, who has not been identified yet, was located by agents with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force on a Metra Milwaukee District North Line train from Chicago to Fox Lake at 10:30 p.m. as the train stopped at the Lake Cook Road station in Deerfield. An unnamed police source said investigators were led to the train by using a cell phone tower.
ABC-7 reports the suspect was on the first floor of the train and went upstairs after being approached by agents. The suspect pulled out a gun and began shooting at the agents, who fired back and fatally wounded the man.
