Memorial Day Traffic Safety Campaign Underway In Lake County: Sheriff
The "Click It Or Ticket" enforcement effort runs through next Monday, according to police.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — Expect to see more police cars on local roads as the annual Memorial Day "Click It Or Ticket" enforcement effort is underway now through next Monday. The Lake County Sheriff's Office is one of many law enforcement agencies throughout the state participating.
The "Click It Or Ticket" campaign is funded with federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
In 2022, Illinois had 300 fatalities involving unrestrained passengers. LCSO said in a news release, "seat belts only save lives when they are used." Nationally, it is estimated that 91.9 percent of people use seat belts, while Illinois boasts a 93 percent seat belt compliance rate.
