North Shore Obituary: Alfred A. Gliemi, 93

Alfred was a captain in the Army during World War II.

Alfred A. Gliemi, 93, of Lake Forest, Illinois, formerly of Deerfield, Illinois passed away July 28, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Lorraine, and his three children, Gregory (Anna) Gliemi, Tainan, Taiwan, Cynthia (Richard) Slocum, Geneva, Illinois, and Allison (Thomas) Cath of Valparaiso, Indiana. In addition, Alfred was adored by his grandchildren, Meredith Slocum Starnes (Justin), John Slocum, Julia Slocum, James Cath, William Cath, David Cath, and two great- grandsons. He is survived by his two sisters, Marie Porter and Patricia Walsh. He was preceded in death by his parents Pasquale and Vitale Glielmi, and his siblings: Lawrence, Angela, Yolanda, and Josephine.
Alfred was a recognized leader in the insurance industry. He served as a captain in the army during World War II, and was awarded the Bronze Star and a Battlefield Commission for his bravery. Alfred also shared his time and talents with numerous organizations during his lifetime.
Interment will be private and a memorial service will be held at The Church of the Holy Spirit, 400 E. Westminster, Lake Forest, Illinois on Sunday, August 23, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Church of the Holy Spirit or The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
