VENUE CHANGE FOR OCTOBER 21st BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING DUE TO LAST 2 MEETINGS’ OVERWHELMING ATTENDANCE

AT WOLTERS KLUWER, 2700 LAKE COOK ROAD, RIVERWOODS, IL
(Just east of Portwine on north side of Lake Cook)

Riverwoods’ residents attended the Board of Trustees meeting on October 7, 2014, to hear the developer’s proposal for the SE corner of Milwaukee Avenue and Deerfield Road, and to express their opinions. The developer cancelled last minute; however, residents voiced concerns around these key areas:

Ø Increased traffic and safety concerns, given that this area is the most congested and accident-prone intersection in the Village

Ø Lack of benefit to residents (three gas stations and McDonald’s already exist in close proximity)

Ø Impact on current businesses and future development, due to the developer’s request for 24/7 operation and drive-through service, both of which are presently prohibited in the Village’s Zoning Ordinance

Ø Poor fit with the community’s demographics, its ecology-oriented, natural character, and potential negative impact on property values
