Parenting is a challenge. Yes, it is fulfilling, meaningful, and is often a delight, but it is also difficult.  Parents worry, are my children healthy? Are they doing well in school? Do they have friends? Are their friends the right friends? Are they happy? Are they mentally and morally strong? Recent psychological research has found that a powerful force for children’s health and happiness is a developed spiritual awareness. Lisa Miller, in her book, “The Spiritual Child,” states, “Research shows that children who have a positive, active relationship to spirituality are: 40% less likely to abuse substances, 60% less likely to be depressed as teenagers, 80% less likely to have dangerous or unprotected sex, and are more likely to have positive markers for thriving and high levels of academic success.”

On Sunday, October 4, Christ United Methodist Church will offer a workshop for parents interested in learning more about how they can encourage the natural spiritual development that is inherent to all children and teenagers. The workshop will focus on everyday activities that can help children and adolescents develop a secure sense of who they are in relation to the world and God.

Join us from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  A $5 donation to cover lunch is requested.

Pastor Brian Roots will be preaching on the topic of spiritual development of children and adolescents in the Sunday Worship Service at 10 a.m. on September 27 and October 4.
