Sam Hussey, Former Nielsen VP, Dies at 91
A memorial service is planned for Dec. 12 at Christ United Methodist Church in Deerfield.

Samuel M. Hussey, 91, of Deerfield, died peacefully on November 26, 2015, surrounded by his family. Sam was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and he was proud of his Hawaiian heritage. He came to the mainland to attend college and remained in the Chicago area to make a life for himself. He married the love of his life, Norma, in 1947, and they raised three children in Evanston and Deerfield. He was active in the First Methodist Church of Evanston, including serving as a Cub Scout leader there for many years. Sam worked for A.C. Nielsen Company for over 40 years, was an early innovator with the use of computers in the business, and retired as one of its Vice-Presidents. He loved to spend time with family and friends, travel with his wife, read about history, follow Chicago sports, and organize fun family events. He is survived by his daughter Kathy Hussey-Arntson (Dale), son Jim (Julie) and grandchildren Joanna Hussey, Michael Hussey (Sarah), Emily Arntson, Michael Garofalo, and Megan Hussey. His wife Norma and son Steve predeceased him. Sam was a fun and loving husband, father and grandpa and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held Saturday December 12, 2015 1pm at Christ United Methodist Church, 600 W. Deerfield Rd., Deerfield, IL, 60015. Interment private.
