Schneider Introducing Articles Of Impeachment For Trump Monday
U.S. Rep Brad Schneider (D-Deerfield) is an original cosponsor of the action against President Donald Trump.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) will introduce articles of Impeachment Monday as an original cosponsor. Last week, Schneider called for the invocation of the 25th Amendment to remove President Donald Trump from office for what he calls "high crimes and misdemeanors." The sentiment comes on the heels of last Wednesday's violence in Washington D.C. that included a mob of pro-Trump demonstrators breaching the U.S. Capitol.
"On Jan. 6, the President of the United States incited a violent mob of anarchists and seditionists to storm and attack the Capitol, defiling the People’s House, the temple of our democracy," Schneider said in a statement. "These domestic terrorists were specifically seeking to bring harm to the Vice President, Speaker of the House, and the whole of the Congress."

The charges against Trump from House Democrats include "incitement of insurrection," reports CNN. The single impeachment article will be introduced at 10 a.m. CT when the House gavels in Monday. It also cites Trump's call with the Georgia Republican secretary of state where the President urged him to "find" enough votes for Trump to win the state, according to CNN.
"The President’s encouragement of the insurrection and his intended disruption of our Constitutional duty to count the certified Electoral College ballots is a direct threat to our rule of law, national security, and democracy," Schneider said. "His willingness to incite, and potentially facilitate, violence against a coequal branch of government are as much a mortal threat to our constitutional republic as they are a violation of our nation’s laws."
