Several Runners From Deerfield Finish Chicago Marathon

More than 50 finishers of Sunday's Bank of America Chicago Marathon are from Deerfield.

CHICAGO, IL -- More than 50 Deerfield residents ran in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday.

The 26.2-mile course took runners through 29 Chicago neighborhoods, that went all the way north to Wrigley Field and south to U.S. Cellular Field.

Aaron Spak, 19, was the first Deerfield man to cross the finish line at 2:54:43 according to unofficial Chicago Marathon results. Kristine Miechowicki, 34, finished first among Deerfield women finishing with a time of 03:37:54.

Deerfield's other top finishers included:

  • Yijing Luo, 43, 03:09:57
  • Zach Wolk, 45, 03:31:05
  • Garrett Schwarzman, 26, 03:32:21
  • Diego Klabjan, 46, 03:38:14

Elite runners from Kenya dominated the race. Kenyan Abel Kirui finished first with a time of 2:11:22, beating out last year’s champion and fellow Kenyan Dickson Chum in the final mile. Florence Kiplagat, 29, was the top female finisher clocking in at 2:22:31. Results are still unofficial.
