Short Story Theatre, a troupe of local writers and performers, presents an evening of storytelling on Thursday, October 1, at 7:15 p.m. at Miramar Bistro, 301 Waukegan Avenue in Highwood. Tickets are $10 at the door, cash or check.

On the roster for the evening are authors Craig Sautter and Julie Isaacson, playwright Scott Woldman, and Elizabeth Brown.

In his story, “What Would Luke Do?,” SCOTT WOLDMAN regales us with a coming of age tale in1970’s Highland Park, with the help of his grandmother, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo.

R. CRAIG SAUTTER shares his story about his life’s addiction to a beverage in “Why I Became a Coke Addict.”

The high holidays become high adventure in a post office in

JULIE ISAACSON’s story “The Key to My Hearth: A Tale of Mail and Men.”

ELIZABETH BROWN searches for a teachable moment regarding open-mindedness in her story “I Was a Loser,” as she confesses to her horrified son that she was a “loser” in grade school.

Short Story Theatre was founded in 2012 by Donna Lubow of Riverwoods and Rick Leslie and Susan Block of Highland Park and is dedicated to promoting storytelling as a vibrant, contemporary art form. Co-founder Donna Lubow says, “Stories are creative non-fiction, based on personal experiences. Our troupe of more than twenty members from Chicago and the northern suburbs melds writing skills and performance skills to entertain and inspire audiences.”
