Superintendent, FBI Say 'No Credible Threat' At Deerfield High
Threats had been posted on social media accounts Wednesday threatening the school and a staff member.

DEERFIELD, IL — The FBI, working along with Deerfield High School, determined several posts made on a private social media account threatening the school and a staff member Wednesday were not credible. In a message to the Township High School District 113, Superintendent Dr. Chala Holland said the decision was made to continue normal school operations following the discovery.
"District 113 and our law enforcement partners take these matters seriously and evaluate the facts particular to each case," Holland said. "We want to express our gratitude to our law enforcement partners for their swift action and response in this matter."
Officials said the FBI received the information about the threat early Wednesday morning and immediately began investigating, notifying the district and DHS administration of the parties involved. DHS administration informed the identified staff member of the threat.

Holland said continuing normal school operations includes following standard procedures by convening the school's threat assessment team "to assess school-related aspects of this matter," including student and staff well-being and support services. The school resource officer, a member of the Deerfield Police Department, serves on the team.
Officials said additional support is available to students in the case that it is needed or desired, with students able to reach out to their counselor. Staff can reach out to school administration for support as well.
