Surgical Care Affiliates Bought by UnitedHealth
Deerfield-based company has new parent, but jobs won't be eliminated.
DEERFIELD, IL - Surgical Care Affiliates, a health care group based in Deerfield, will be bought by UnitedHealth Group, according to the Chicago Tribune and other media sources. The deal is valued at $2.3 billion.
Plans are for UnitedHealth to combine Surgical Care Affiliates with its OptumCare business, which specializes in primary and urgent care.
No job cuts are planned and the SCA headquarters is expected to remain in Deerfield.
