Trinity offers series on bioethical issues from a biblical perspective

Trinity Graduate School invites members of the community to a series of evenings with Christian leaders in bioethics, beginning Jan. 24. Each evening includes a presentation on a specific topic under the theme of “The Difference God Makes,” with time for discussion, followed by refreshments. The programs are held in the Kantzer Auditorium on the Deerfield campus, from 7:00-8:30 pm, and are free and open to the public.

For the first event on Jan. 24, Dr. John Kilner, Professor of Bioethics and Contemporary Culture at Trinity, will speak on the topic, “Does Human Life Matter if There Is No God?”

Prior to the presentation, there will be a Bioethics Open House from 5:00-6:30 pm, in the Norton Welcome Center. Dr. Kilner, along with current and former students, will present on the Bioethics program at Trinity and opportunities within the field. The event includes a complimentary dinner. On Feb. 21, Wayne Detmer, MD, Chief Medical Officer at the Lawndale Christian Health Center, and James Brooks, MDiv, Chief Ministry Officer at Lawndale, will co-present on the topic, “Overcoming Racial and Economic Barriers to Health and Dignity.”

For the final event on Mar. 21, Paige Cunningham, JD, Executive Director of The Center for Bioethics & Human Dignity, will speak on the topic, “Bioethics in the Church Today.”

Trinity Graduate School, part of Trinity International University, is located at 2065 Half Day Road in Deerfield. There is no admission fee for these evening events, and all are welcome.
