VIDEO: Deerfield Inducts Class of 2011 Into Football Hall of Fame

Some of the Warriors' greatest players were honored during a halftime ceremony at Thursday night's game against Maine East

The Warriors inducted 21 members into their Football Hall of Fame Thursday night during a halftime ceremony at Adams Field headlined by former head coach Paul Adams. All but two of the other inductees played for Adams during his 25 year tenure with the Warriors. Paul Adams – Head Coach 1967-1992
Paul Adams was the head coach for the Warriors from 1967 to 1992. During his tenure his teams were 213-56, a .792 win percentage. He had only one losing season in 26 years. In his last 20 years, before retiring after the 1992 campaign, his teams racked up 184 wins to 36 losses, an incredible record. Under his leadership, Deerfield became the Class 5A 1975 IHSA State Champions and was the runner–up in 1977, 1981 and 1984. Coach Adams was inducted into the Illinois High School Football Coaches’ Association Hall of Fame in 1991. He still lives in Deerfield with his wife, Adriane.

John Lindquist – Quarterback, 1965
All State
College Ball – Michigan State University
Currently - Doctor of Internal Medicine, Endocrinologist; retired. Married 40 Years to Jody, John has five children, Michael, David, Steve, Johnny, and Bobby. They reside in Highland Park.

Kent Liddle – Center, 1966
All State (Made all four All State teams) and All American
College Ball – University of Nebraska, played and defeated Georgia in the 1969 Sun Bowl
Currently – Regional Vice President of Sales, Mohawk Industries. Kent has eight children and five grandchildren and resides in Ocean View, Del.

Mike DeRivera – Offensive Guard, 1967
All State

Jim Anderson – Tackle, 1968
All State
College Ball – Northwestern University, three year starter on the defensive line, played in two All Star games
Professional Ball – Drafted by the Green Bay Packers
Currently – Resides in Deerfield. His four children who attended Deerfield High School and two of them played in the football program all four years.   Jim has worked for Norkol Inc. Paper company for 32 years.

Tom Roberts – Tight End, 1973
All State

College – Illinois State University
Currently – Is a CPA in an accountant partnership he co-owns. Married to Rita for 28 years. They have two children, Keke, 17; and Danny, 13. The Roberts reside in Wolfeboro, N.H.

Mark Carlson – Quarterback, 1975
All State, All American and a member of the 1975 Class 5A State Champions
College Ball – University of Minnesota, starting QB for the Golden Gophers during the 1979 season, broke Big Ten passing records
Professional Ball – WFL Chicago Fire

Currently – Regional Vice President for Heidelberg, USA

Mac Nezbed – Tackle, 1975
All State, a member of the 1975 Class 5A State Champions

John Murphy – Defensive Tackle, 1977
All State, a member of the 1977 Class 5A State Runner-up Champions. His team allowed only eight points in four playoff games.
Professional – Played Junior Hockey in Canada and was at NHL training camps for the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Currently – Owner and operator of painting business in Highwood

John Sweeney – Half Back, 1978
All State, member of the 1977 Class 5A State Runner-up Champions. His team allowed only eight points in four playoff games.
College Ball – University of Notre Dame, four year letter winner and Special Teams Captain his senior year
Currently – Dr. Sweeney moved to Emory University school of Medicine in 2007. He currently is the W. Dean Warren Distinguished Professor of Surgery and Chief, Division of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery, Department of Surgery at Emory. John is married to his college sweetheart, Patty. They have seven children and live in suburban Atlanta.

Brian Collins – Safety, 1978
All State, member of the 1977 Class 5A State Runner-up Champions. His team allowed only eight points in four playoff games.
College Ball – University of Wisconsin, Madison
Currently- Worked for Johnson & Johnson, Baxter, Boston Scientific and Abbott in his 25-year career in medical devices sales and marketing. He recently joined a start up device company, in Laguna, Calif. Brian is married, and has two children, who are both in college. He has lived in Edina, Minn. for the past 12 years.

Greg Scarpone – Half Back, 1979
All State, team went to the Class 5A State Semi-Finals, rushed for more than 1,000 yards and set school touchdown record.
College Ball – University of Indianapolis, started all four years
Currently – Owns an environmental, energy and recycling company in Indianapolis. He is married to Laura and has two children, Maddie, 13; and Anna, 10.

John Rudolph – Half Back, 1982
All State, the ’82 team was preseason rank #1. Career rushing of more than 2,300 yards and 25 touchdowns. Was a member of the 1981 Class 5A State Runner-up Champions team. As a class, never lost a conference game.
College Ball – University of Iowa
Currently – Has worked for Cantor Fitzgerald, equity division, Chicago, for 21 years. Married to Denise, and has three children, Jack, 11; Janie 10; and Audrey, 6. The Rudolphs reside in Glencoe.

Vic Renaud – Center, 1984
All State, Member of the 1984 Class 5A State Runner-up Champions
College Ball – Southern Illinois University
Currently – Project Manager at Cambridge Homes. Vic is single and has a daughter, Brook, age 7.

Bill Kerstein – Half Back, 1986
All State, Lake County Player of the Year, 2nd Team USA Today All American, rushed for 1,204 yards his junior season and 1,840 yards his senior season for 1986 quarter-finalist team. Broke the school touchdown record with 29.
Currently – Co-founder of Squares.com. Married to Anastasia, and has four children, Calista, 13; Kenny, 11; Alexis, 6; and Nicolette 4. The Kersteins reside in Riverwoods.

Lindsay Knapp – Tackle, 1987
All State, All American, Gatorade Player of the Year
College Ball – University of Notre Dame, member of the 1988 National Champion Fighting Irish
Professional Ball – Drafted in 1992 by the Kansas City Chiefs; played in Super Bowl XXXI for the World Champion Green Bay Packers.
Currently – A bond salesman for R.W. Baird. Lindsay and his wife, Sarah, have three children, McKenna, Thomas, and Riley. They live in Edina, Minn.

Michael Adams – Defensive Line, 1990
All State, member of the 1990 State Semi-Finalist Team. Senior year he recorded 11 sacks, 71 stops and 161 solo tackles.
College Ball – Northern Illinois University, Dekalb
Currently – Physical Education teacher and football, track and wrestling coach at Crystal Lake Central.

Geoff Shein – Half Back, Safety, 1990
All State, member of the 1990 State Semi-Finalist Team. Ran for more than 1,285 yards his senior season; rushed for 372 yards in State playoff game vs. Rolling Meadows.
College Ball – Northwestern University, starting LB for the 1995 Big Ten Champion Wildcats; member of the 1996 Rose Bowl team.
Currently – Owns and operates a personal training business and facility.

Bryan Jurewicz – Defensive End, 1991
All State, All American, Gatorade player of the year
College Ball – University of Wisconsin, Madison; played in the 1994 Rose Bowl where the Badgers beat UCLA
Currently - President and CEO of GradeBeam.com

Bob Fraumann –Linebacker, 1996
All State
College Ball – University of Michigan, member of the 1998 Rose Bowl team
Currently – Doctor in Residence at the University of Michigan Hospital

Aaron Moorhead – Wide Receiver, 1997
College Ball – University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Professional Ball – Signed as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts, 2002. Played in Super Bowl XLI where the Colts beat the Bears.
Currently – Assistant Coach, Stanford University
