Village Of Deerfield: Black History Month
Local and national organizations have planned a number of events for all ages in celebration of Black History Month.

At the February 6, 2023 Village Board meeting, Mayor Daniel C. Shapiro proclaimed the month of February to be Black History Month in the Village of Deerfield. Individuals are encouraged to learn about the African American experience in Deerfield and the United States and to celebrate this month by recognizing the contributions that African American individuals have made to our society.

College of Lake County
College of Lake County invited the entire Lake County community to celebrate Black History Month with events both remote and in-person throughout February.
Dunn Museum
The Lake County Forest Preserve’s Dunn Museum has an in-person and virtual exhibit highlighting Lake County's involvement in the Underground Railroad, including photos and artifacts from Deerfield. Titled “Through Darkness to Light: Photographs Along the Underground Railroad,” the exhibit is open January 28 through March 19.
National Museum of African-American Heritage and Culture at the Smithsonian Institution
Activities for all ages are available from the National Museum of African-American Heritage and Culture. Online exhibitions are also available.
