Watch a Pre-March Madness Jalen Brunson Light Up the Court (VIDEO)
The Stevenson High School grad and Villanova freshman point guard will try to help the Wildcats win an NCAA title Monday night.
Unless you attended Villanova University or the University of North Carolina or you miraculously picked one—or both—of those schools to advance to the championship game in your bracket in this wild, upset-laden college basketball postseason, Monday night's NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament final might not hold that much interest for you.
But if you're a fan of high school basketball in the North Suburbs, you might be curious to watch the tournament's deciding game to see how one of the competitors with Lincolnshire ties does.

Freshman point guard Jalen Brunson, who led Adlai E. Stevenson High School to a 2014-15 IHSA Class A championship and won the state's Mr. Basketball title, will be part of No. 2-seeded Villanova's backcourt when the Wildcats face the No. 2 North Carolina Tar Heels.
To say Jalen Brunson—the son of former Chicago Bulls guard and nine-year NBA veteran Rick Brunson—has made a smooth transition on the court from high school to college would be an understatement. Along with his Mr. Basketball honors, Brunson ended his high school career by scoring a record 30 points in the IHSA final and being named to the McDonald's and Parade All-American teams.

At Villanova this season, Brunson, who shares the team's backcourt with senior standout Ryan Arcidiacono, was a unanimous pick to the Big East All-Freshman Team, averaging about 10 points a game (9.7) and shooting almost 50 percent from the field (.455).
And none of those achievements takes into account his earning a spot on the 12-man USA Basketball under-19 team, which won a gold medal this past summer at the FIBA world championship. Brunson was named the MVP for that final game.
