Woman Killed By Train in Deerfield Tuesday

The elderly Libertyville woman appeared to try and beat the train before it fatally struck her.

The person hit by an Amtrak train Tuesday afternoon was an elderly woman who lost her life.

The 80-year-old Libertyville woman, who has not been identified yet, tried to cross the tracks just north of the Deerfield station and beat the train, but was struck by Inbound Train 336 around 2 p.m., according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Surveillance video from both the train and the station captured the incident.

No one of the train, which included 69 passengers, was reported injured.
