1. Man Charged After Lunging At Officer In Des Plaines: Police (patch.com) — Des Plaines police say a man previously banned from the Holiday Inn on South Mannheim Road lunged at an officer while being questioned late Saturday night. IDNR seeks witnesses to Lisle man boating before fatal Fox River crash near McHenry (shawlocal.com) — State conservation police are seeking boaters who may have seen a speeding pontoon boat before a Fox River crash that killed a Des Plaines woman on July 25. Investigators recently upgraded charges against the Lisle man accused of operating the boat, and they're asking anyone who recognizes a specific boat in a bystander video to contact them with tips.
3. Data centers and tax breaks: How we reported the story (chicagotribune.com) — Des Plaines is one of several suburbs studied in an analysis of how tax breaks and assessment reductions for data centers may affect local property tax rates. Reporters modeled 2025 tax bills by comparing actual assessed values with simulated scenarios without incentives, then estimated how homeowners' bills might differ if data centers paid more.
4.
