DES PLAINES, IL — A cocaine possession arrest and two cases involving alleged assaults on police officers are among the latest reports from the Des Plaines Police Department.
The following information comes from Des Plaines Police Department reports. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.
900 block of Beau Drive: A 31-year-old Des Plaines woman reported at 11 a.m. Sept. 12, that her Tesla Model Y was damaged while parked overnight.
Police said the rear driver's-side door had been dented and there was a scratch running about 4 inches along the rear passenger-side door.
500 block of Seegers Road: A 54-year-old Des Plaines woman reported at 6 a.m. Sept. 12, that her Hyundai was damaged while parked overnight.
Police said the driver's-side door handle was damaged and part of the vehicle appeared to have been scratched in an apparent attempt to gain entry.
200 block of East Touhy Avenue: A Hyundai Elantra was reportedly struck at about 6 a.m. Sept. 13, while parked at an apartment complex.
Police said the unknown driver left the scene without providing information. The victim later found damage to the passenger-side rear quarter panel.
100 block of Touhy Court: A business reported at 10 a.m. Sept. 12, that 26 sheets of aluminum stage panels were stolen sometime between Sept. 12 and Sept. 14.
Police said the panels had been left in front of an overhead garage door when the theft occurred.
Joshua O. Torres, 21, of Berwyn, was arrested at 3:14 a.m. Sept. 12, in the 3000 block of South Des Plaines River Road and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Police said officers responded to a report of a person passed out in a vehicle with loud music playing.
According to police, officers found Torres asleep in the driver's seat with a white powdery substance suspected of being cocaine on the center console.
Police said the substance later tested positive for cocaine.
Officers also reviewed video from the Rivers Casino parking lot that allegedly showed Torres using a small bag containing white powder shortly before officers arrived.
Torres was taken into custody and later released with court information, police said.
Robert M. Wszolek, 35, of Algonquin, was arrested at 3:15 p.m. Sept. 13, in the 400 block of Florian Drive and charged with aggravated assault and resisting a peace officer.
Police said officers responded to a disturbance involving an intoxicated man who was refusing to leave a property.
According to police, Wszolek became agitated while officers attempted to convince him to leave.
Police said Wszolek later made advances toward an officer, prompting the officer to retrieve a Taser and order him to leave the area.
When officers attempted to place Wszolek in handcuffs, police said he repeatedly pulled away.
Police said Wszolek was taken into custody and charged with one felony count of aggravated assault to a peace officer and one misdemeanor count of resisting a peace officer.
Chrisnel Brutus, 44, of Mount Prospect, was arrested at 9:06 p.m. Sept. 13, in the 1500 block of East Miner Street and charged with aggravated assault and two counts of resisting a peace officer.
Police said officers responded to a report of an unwanted person.
According to police, Brutus matched the description provided and initially agreed to leave.
Police said officers later saw Brutus return and again directed him to leave. During the encounter, Brutus allegedly became aggressive and took what officers described as a fighting stance.
Police said Brutus resisted when officers attempted to take him into custody.
