Audition for Oakton's “Mother Courage and Her Children"

Auditions are scheduled 6-9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 12-13, at the college's Studio One Theater, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.

Actors of all skill levels are invited to attend open calls for Oakton Community College’s production of “Mother Courage and Her Children.” Auditions are scheduled 6-9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 12-13, at the college’s Studio One Theater, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.

Director Tim Curtis is seeking people of all ages and ethnicities. All actors must be able to sing. Thespians should prepare a one-minute monologue, a one-minute story to tell, 12 to 16 bars from a song and be prepared to do a cold reading from the script. Performers are also encouraged to bring an instrument to play.

Considered one of Bertold Brecht’s masterpieces, “Mother Courage and Her Children” is a satirical jab at war mongers who make a living by facilitating the death of others. Brecht penned the play in 1939 when he was living in exile, considered a degenerate artist in Nazi Germany.
