Auditions to be held for Oakton’s production of “Julius Caesar”

Take center stage in Oakton Community College’s production of William Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar.” Auditions are scheduled 6 - 9 p.m., Monday, Aug. 29 and Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Oakton’s Footlik Theater, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines. Prepared monologues and cold readings will be heard. No appointment is necessary. Those auditioning must be available for call-backs on Wednesday Aug. 31 from 6 to 9 p.m.

A senate unites in conspiracy against the nation’s leader. Name calling and suspicion, patriotism and dishonor, assassination and mobs incited to violence – all done in the name or righteous government. Sound familiar? No it’s not the last 50 years of U.S. history, it’s Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar” that juxtaposes Roman intrigue with the modern milieu – just in time for election season.

The director plans on utilizing non-traditional casting. Women and men of all ages and ethnic groups are encouraged to audition.

Performance dates for “Julius Caesar” are Oct. 6 - 16.
