Book group to walk through history of homes
Copies of At Home: A Short History of Private Life by Bill Bryson are now available at the readers services desk at the Des Plaines Library.

Copies of At Home: A Short History of Private Life by Bill Bryson are now available at the readers services desk at the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood Street. The book will be discussed at the Des Plaines History Center, 781 Pearson Street, Wednesday, January 20, from 6-7 p.m. Adults and high school students are welcome.
Bryson’s book takes readers on a tour through his own house and offers seemingly limitless knowledge and insight into what is found in each room. He tells how private spaces have been influenced by culture and society in the modern era in an engaging and entertaining way. Bryson is the author of many other books, including A Walk in the Woods and A Short History of Nearly Everything.
Copies of At Home can be checked out at the Des Plaines Public Library on the third floor. Please call the History Center at 847-391-5399 to register. This event is co-sponsored by the History Center and the Des Plaines Public Library.
