The Burke Group Hosts Community Recycle and Donation Event

Event keeps unwanted items out of landfill, continues sustainability efforts

Continuing their efforts to promote environmental responsibility and sustainability, The Burke Group (TBG) is hosting a community recycle and donation event on Saturday, August 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the TBG office parking lot: 9575 W. Higgins Rd., Rosemont, IL 60018.

TBG is partnering with the Village of Rosemont to host this event that allows area residents and employees to get rid of unwanted items in a responsible, environmentally-friendly way. Reliable recycling and community-based donation services are being generously provided by Abt Electronics and the Salvation Army. See below for a list of accepted items.

“This event is a great opportunity to donate to those in need or just de-clutter,” said Christopher B. Burke, PhD, PE, D.WRE, Dist.M.ASCE, President of The Burke Group. “At TBG, we are constantly looking forward to determine how we can continue reducing our impact on our environment, promoting sustainability in our office and making a difference in the world around us. This recycling event can give a new life to items that we may have otherwise just thrown in the garbage, where they would sit in a landfill.”

TBG has a long history of environmental responsibility, as evidenced by its award-winning Bike to Work program, which has reduced about 590,000 lbs. of CO2 emissions from riding 304,000 miles since the program began in 2006. TBG also provides car charging stations for electric vehicles and has modified its building structure to reduce energy waste.
