84th Pakistan Day Celebrations in Chicago with zeal

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Chicago hosted a formal reception to honor the 84th Pakistan Day. A big crowd of about 300 people attended the event, including journalists, think tanks, senior elected figures, Federal and State officials, members of the Consular Corps, and members of the Pakistani American community. The occasion's chief guest was U.S. Congressman Jonathan Jackson.
During his speech, Consul General Tariq Karim wished the Pakistani American community a happy and prosperous Pakistan Day. He reminisced about the epic battle for Pakistan and lavished praise on Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the nation's father, as well as other leaders and activists of the Pakistan Movement for their ceaseless efforts and incalculable sacrifices. In addition, he conveyed Pakistan's unwavering support for the oppressed people of IIOJK and their rightful and lawful fight for the right to self-determination. He also mentioned the felicitations from Pakistan's Foreign Minister, President, and Prime Minister.
Pakistan has overcome numerous obstacles to make remarkable development on several fronts over the past 76 years, according to the Consul General of Pakistan. Pakistan is a popular business and investment destination, he emphasized, because of its strategic location, demographic dividend, sizeable market, democratic attitude, abundance of natural and human resources, quick development of the tech sector, and lax investment regulations. Additionally, he highlighted Pakistan's appeal as a travel destination, providing travelers with an extensive array of attractions. The administration, he said, was implementing several changes to solve macroeconomic issues. With its one window interface and quick approvals, the SIFC's establishment, he said, was revolutionizing the nation's investment environment. He also highlighted the steps taken by Pakistan to empower women and minorities.
The importance of Pakistan and the United States' long-standing friendship was emphasized by the consul general. He gave a briefing on a range of topics related to the bilateral relations, such as the expanding trade volume and the prosperous operations of US companies in Pakistan.
Consul General Tariq Karim outlined his main goals and plans and said that increased commerce, investment, and interpersonal interactions were strengthening Pakistan's relationship with the Midwest. He continued by saying that Pakistani exports had grown significantly and that Pakistani goods were available in a number of Midwest retailers. He gave a briefing on the increasing investments that the Midwest is making in Pakistan, particularly in the fields of IT, Pink Rock Salt, healthcare, energy, and agriculture. He said that Pakistan is a key investment destination, as evidenced by the recent Joint-Venture Agreement between the Wisconsin-based MSCI and PMDC to promote the Pink Salt Industry in Pakistan.
The significance that the Pakistani American community plays in bridging gaps and contributing to the socioeconomic development of both countries was emphasized by the consul general. In addition to being accomplished professionals, he said, community members have made significant contributions to the development of the American economy, technology, and culture. The Consul General called on the locals to uphold the Quaid's teachings of Unity, Faith, and Discipline and to keep acting as bridge builders in the socioeconomic growth of the two nations.
Congressman Jonathan Jackson acknowledged the important contribution played by the Pakistani American community while extending his warmest greetings on Pakistan Day. Jesse White, the former secretary of state of Illinois, was among the dignitaries and elected leaders that spoke at the event. Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias acknowledged the importance of Pakistan Day in a proclamation delivered to the consul general on behalf of the state's citizens. Several dignitaries, including Congressmen Sean Casten and Brad Schneider, Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, Wisconsin State Representative Samba Baldeh, Mayor Brandon Johnson of Chicago, and Mayor Basta of Bolingbrook, also sent congratulations. These messages, inter alia, recognized the contribution made by the Pakistani American community and importance of bilateral relations. Founder/President CWA and MASH Imam Arif Huskic presented an award to the Consul General for his services.

Pakistani patriotic national songs were sung during a brief cultural session. Following Iftar, guests were also treated to traditional Pakistani food. Prayers for the prosperity and well-being of Pakistan, its people, and its community members were said at the ceremony's conclusion.
