The Des Plaines Community Band Presents: REED THIS, Celebrating the Life and Works of Dr. Alfred Reed.

The Des Plaines Community Concert Band will celebrate the life and works of Dr. Alfred Reed at a concert Sunday, October 26.

Alfred Reed, American composer, arranger, conductor and educator. Dr. Reed has published over 200 works in several media. He is one of the nation’s most prolific and frequently performed composers.

The Des Plaines Community Concert Band will be celebrate the life and works of Dr. Reed by performing several selections that he composed, arranged or edited.

The concert will be played at the Prairie Lakes Theatre, 515 E. Thacker Street, on Sunday, October 26, at 3:00pm. Tickets are available at the door: Adults $8; seniors and students $5. The concert is free for children under age 6.

The Des Plaines Park District Community Concert Band, which was established in 1983, consists of approximately 60 dedicated musicians and includes a full complement of traditional band instrumentation. Musicians range in age from high school student to retirees, some from Des Plaines and others from surrounding suburbs. The band members come from all walk of life and musical abilities, from career professionals just rediscovering their childhood instruments to professional and semi-professional musicians who enjoy the change in venue.
