DesPlaines, Park Ridge and Niles Police Help Needy Residents Stay Warm This Winter

From an effort started locally, three police departments and Maine Township collect and distribute warm coats and accessories.

In its fifth year, the combined effort of the Park Ridge, Niles and Des Plaines Police Departments known as Cops for Coats collected over 300 coats and winter accessories such as scarfs, mittens, gloves and hats.

The annual drive provides helps local needy individuals and families keep warm as winter approaches. Distribution took place Nov. 5 at Maine Township Town Hall with the assistance of Township Supervisor Carol A. Teschky and her staff along with police officers and volunteers.

For more information about future drives, contact the Park Ridge, Niles or Des Plaines police departments. All coats and accessories not distributed on Nov. 5 were donated to St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Des Plaines.
