Resurrection Drama Department Presents “Fools”

The drama department of Resurrection College Prep High School presents Fools, by Neil Simon.  Fools is set in a Russian hamlet where the town has been cursed with 200 years of stupidity.  The story follows a young school teacher, Leon Tolchinsky, who arrives in town and finds himself in a battle to break the curse.  Leon immediately falls in love with Sophia, a girl so stupid that she has only recently learned how to sit down.  

The cast of characters includes Count Gregor (Nick Mateus, Maine South); Leon (Nick Olinger, Maine South); Sophia (Katie Nicolay ’14); Dr. Zubritsky (Danielle Malenock ’13); Lenya (Cassandra Jordan ’12); Yenchna the vendor (Jazmine Sherman ’12); Mishkin the postman (Amanda Willner ’12); Slovitch the butcher (Taylor Kohout ’12); the Magistrate (Mary Pat Hastings ’15), and Snetsky the sheep loser (Natalie Chin ’14). The cast also includes Sheep (Maddie Abbatacola ’15); Sheep (Olivia Anton ’15); Duck (Lia Haddad ’15); Cow (Jackie Komada ’12); Pig (Amanda Willner ’12); Attendant (Vanessa Komada ’15); and Attendant, (Hannah Keller ’15).

Performances will be at the Resurrection Little Theatre at 7 pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 15, 16, and 17 and at 3 pm on Sunday, March 18, 2012.   Tickets are $5 for the general public and free for Resurrection students; tickets are available in advance or at the door.
