Family Rebuilds After Fire Guts Des Plaines Home: GoFundMe
The family was left without shelter following last Saturday's house fire on Middleton Court.

DES PLAINES, IL — Following a fire that gutted their home last Saturday, a Des Plaines family is trying to put the pieces back together and the local community is stepping up to help. A garage fire did considerable damage to a home belonging to Matt and Marie Haido.
Dom and Angie O’Brien started a GoFundMe for the family earlier this week with a goal of raising $15,000. As of Friday afternoon, the campaign has surpassed that goal at more than $17,000 from 55 donations.
"I'm reaching out to you today with a heavy heart to share some devastating news," the campaign reds. "Recently, our dear friend and colleague Marie Haido's home was engulfed in a tragic fire, leaving her and her family without shelter, possessions, and a sense of stability."

According to ChicagoAreaFire.com, the fire made its way from the attached garage into the house. There was fire at the top of the stairs on the second floor and in an attic. Des Plaines firefighters were assisted by Prospect Heights, Mount Prospect, Niles and the North Maine FPD.
"As they navigate through this challenging time, let's come together and show her the power of our collective love and support," the GoFundMe campaign continues. "Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a significant difference in helping Marie and Matt rebuild and create a new sense of home."
