Mel Thillens of Park Ridge was one of the featured speakers at the Second Annual GOP Kick-off held Sept. 15 in the new O'Connor Building in Prospect Park, Park Ridge. He is a Park Ridge Park District Commissioner and headed the citizen committee -- called Our Parks Legacy-- several years ago that helped pass a referendum to to purchase land formerly known as The Youth Campus. The 11+ acre park opened to the public this summer.   The capacity crowd heard about Thillen's campaign for Illinois State Senate. He favors term limits, cutting taxes and supporting a balanced budget.   Other speakers included Char Foss-Eggemann, the Maine Township GOP Committeeman; Stephanie Holderfield, Illinois Campaign Director for Trump/Pence; and Dan Gott, candidate for Illinois State Representative.
