More Than 60 Employers With Immediate Openings To Attend Job Fair At Oakton

DES PLAINES, IL — More than 60 local employers with immediate openings will be attending an upcoming job fair at Oakton Community College Thursday. Plus, free workshops on interviewing tips, networking and other topics will be offered for interested job seekers. The hiring event has been organized by local members of Congress, National Able, Oakton and the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

The job fair takes place Thursday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Tenhoeve Room at Oakton's Des Plaines Campus. There will be early entry for veterans starting at 9:30 a.m.

Those interested in attending have been asked to RSVP online.

Announcing the event last week, 9th District Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Evanston) and 10th District Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Deerfield) were both enthusiastic that the fair would help their constituents looking for work.

“One of my top priorities in Congress is creating jobs and promoting a growing economy that raises the standard of living for all Americans,” said Schneider. “I’m very excited to continue that work back home by organizing this event to help connect constituents seeking jobs with great local employers who are hiring.”

“I’m excited about partnering with my colleague Rep. Schneider to create this opportunity for those looking for work to meet with companies looking for workers,” said Schakowsky. “By matching job seekers to businesses, we can improve families’ well-being, help our economy grow and strengthen our community. I hope that constituents will take advantage of this chance to hear about job openings in fields ranging from manufacturing to information technology, from health care to service industries and beyond.”
