Pakistani Americans celebrate Pakistan Day with great enthusiasm
Hundreds of Pakistani-Americans living in Chicago area celebrated Pakistani National Day at Holiday Inn, Skokie.
To mark the 83rd Pakistan Day, the Consulate General of Pakistan, Chicago, organized a simple but dignified Reception on Monday, March 20rd, 2023, at Holiday inn Skokie Ballroom The event was attended by a large gathering of around 500 guests from all walks of life including senior elected officials, federal/States officials, representatives of Consular Corps, think tanks, academia, journalists, and members of Pakistani-American Community.
Many diplomats, government officials, and members of the Pakistani community gathered to celebrate Pakistan Day at the National Day Reception organized by the Consulate General of Pakistan in Chicago on Monday March 20th, 2023. celebrate a few days early because of Ramadan observance.
Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias was the Chief Guest at the occasion. The master of ceremony was Arshia Hasnain. A prayer from the Quran recited by Syed Abdan Ullah began the event.

During the event, the Consul-General of Pakistan in Chicago, Mr. Tariq Karim, addressed the audience and highlighted that Pakistan Day is celebrated every year on 23rd March to commemorate the Lahore Resolution, which is considered a significant milestone in the journey of Muslims to achieve an independent state. He further explained that on 23rd March 1940, the Muslims of the sub-continent, under the visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, father of the nation, adopted the ‘Pakistan Resolution’ at Lahore and began their journey towards freedom and nationhood. He expressed his gratitude to the diplomatic community and Illinois government officials for joining the Pakistani community in celebrating Pakistan Resolution Day.
The Consul-General also paid tribute to the forefathers of Pakistan for their struggles and sacrifices in creating their beautiful homeland.

In his remarks, Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias extended felicitations on the Pakistan Day while recognizing the contribution made by the Pakistani American community. He also recognized the important role being played by the Pakistani American community.
There was also a cultural segment of the event with diverse performances and Pakistani music. Prominent singers sung national songs while a group of children presented tableau. Guests were also served with the traditional Pakistani cuisine
