DES PLAINES, IL — A Rosemont teen was fatally struck by a vehicle in a hit and run Saturday night as he crossed Miner Street downtown Des Plaines, police said. Henry Sinisterra, 18, of Rosemont, was hit in or around the crosswalk between Lee and Pearson streets around 10:27 p.m.

Investigators are looking for a red SUV that was seen fleeing the area shortly after the collision. Police said witnesses saw Sinisterra walking in the road shortly before he was hit. They said he was "almost struck by other vehicles that had to maneuver out of his way," according to police.

When officers arrived on scene, they found Sinisterra lying in the street unconscious. Des Plaines Fire Department personnel took him to Lutheran General Hospital for life threatening injuries, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday, according to police.
