Spine Surgeon Joins Illinois Bone & Joint Institute
Eric Belin, MD, who specializes in adult and pediatric spine surgery, is now seeing patients at IBJI's Des Plaines and Lincolnwood locations

Eric Belin, MD, who specializes in adult and pediatric comprehensive spine surgery, has joined the staff of Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI) as of this week. A board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Belin treats adults and children with a wide range of spinal issues including scoliosis, kyphosis, degenerative deformity, fractures, tumors, cervical degeneration, spondylolisthesis, disc herniation and low back pain.
A strong proponent of patient-centered care, Dr. Belin is fellowship trained in both adult and pediatric orthopaedic spine surgery. Prior to joining IBJI, Dr. Belin taught complex spine surgery techniques at Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine. He has experience performing minimally invasive procedures using very small incisions, as well as expertise in fully open revision and tumor removal surgeries. Dr. Belin places great value on working collaboratively with patients to create personalized treatment plans.
Dr. Belin earned his bachelors in biology at Howard University and completed medical school at Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine. After successful residencies in orthopaedics and surgery, Dr. Belin continued on to fellowship training. He completed his pediatric spine fellowship at Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA, followed by an adult spine fellowship at University of Maryland.

Dr. Belin lives in Chicago with his wife and young son. A football player during college, Dr. Belin still enjoys sports and recently completed several triathlons. He was also an all-state tenor during his undergraduate years and plays violin, trumpet and piano.
