2 Dead, 2 Seriously Hurt In Downers Grove Crash

The crash happened at Highland Avenue and 35th Street Friday evening.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Two people were killed and two were seriously hurt in a crash involving two vehicles Friday night in Downers Grove.

Police responded to the crash at 6:53 p.m. at Highland Avenue and 35th Street.

According to a news release, investigators found that a vehicle was attempting to turn north onto Highland from eastbound 35th Street when it was hit by a vehicle that was heading south on Highland.

The driver of the vehicle that was turning was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A passenger in that vehicle was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with critical injuries and later pronounced dead.

The driver and passenger in the second vehicle were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries, police said.

The crash is under investigation by the Downers Grove Police Department and the DuPage M.E.R.I.T. Major Crash Reconstruction Team.

The identity of the victims is being withheld pending the notification of family members.
