2001 Downers North Grad To Receive Alumni Award Of Excellence
Charlie Rohif, who graduated from Downers Grove North in 2021, will be honored during an assembly on March 6.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A 2001 graduate of Downers Grove North (DGN) has been chosen to receive the Alumni Award of Excellence. Charlie Rohif will be honored during a school assembly on March 6.
Rohif, who was known for his athletic and academic achievements at Downers North, works for the National Basketball Association (NBA) as vice president of stats technology product development. There, he helms a team of product managers, data scientists and software engineers that handle statistics for both the NBA and the WNBA.
At DGN, Rohif was vice president of the National Honor Society and also served as golf captain. After graduating, he attended Duke University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in computer science. During his time at Duke, Rohif was student manager for the basketball team, which won ACC Tournament Championships in 2002, 2003 and 2005, and made it to the NCAA Final Four in 2004.

Rohif earned a master's degree in computer science at DePaul and went on to develop player tracking software for the NBA.
“Our award selection committee was unanimously impressed by Charlie’s accomplishments not only in high school, but also in his academic pursuits after high school and professional impact,” DGN Principal Dr. Courtney DeMent said in a statement.

DeMent added, “Our school helped provide a foundation for Charlie’s education and passion for sports, and his success is a testament to our commitment to cultivate the same lifelong learning and leadership values in all students.”
Rohif said he is "honored" to be chosen to receive the Alumni Award of Excellence.
"DGN was instrumental in laying a strong foundation that helped set me up for success. I appreciate the opportunity to be associated with such a special school.”
