3 Guns Seized During Traffic Stops In Naperville: Police
Two men face gun charges after police say they found guns in cars they were driving.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville police seized guns during two separate traffic stops in the city Thursday. Both arrests took place just after 8 p.m.
Trensae Ware, 24, of the 1500 block of W. Jefferson, was charged with reckless discharge of a weapon and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon in connection with the first incident. Tony Thompson, 19, of Joliet, was charged with possession of a machine gun, possession of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in connection with the second incident.
In the first incident, police say they were driving behind Ware when they heard what sounded like a gunshot from in his car. Officers then pulled Ware over and say they found an open tequila bottle and a used shell casing.

According to police, a bullet hole was found near the driver's side floor of the car. Ware is accused of having gunshot residue on his hand, along with a .45-caliber handgun beneath the passenger seat, along with a 9 mm handgun in the rear passenger seat area.
In a separate traffic stop, the car Thompson was in was pulled over on June 6 after police say it "came close to the officers' vehicle" while leaving a parking lot. They report that the car also had expired license plates.

Police say they heard something that sounded like a handgun rack sliding while they were talking to the car's driver. Thompson, who was in the passenger's seat, was asked to get out of the car and police say they found a 9 mm Glock 17 under his seat. According to police, the gun was equipped with a switch to make it fully automatic.
“I commend the Naperville Police Department for their efforts on these two cases,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said.“Their commitment to public safety is second to none. Once again, their efforts have led to the removal of dangerous weapons from those who are not legally allowed to possess them."
Ware and Thompson are scheduled to appear in court July 1.
