39th Annual DG 5Miler Race Takes Place on June 26
Race day registration still available for the Downers Grove 5 Miler on June 26 at the Lincoln Center.
On June 26 at 7:30am the 39th running of the DG 5 Miler in Downers Grove will begin. Around 500 runners will take on the 5 mile course through streets just south of downtown Downers Grove.
Race day registration will be available from 6-7am in the Lincoln Center parking lot. Only cash or check will be accepted and registration will cost $40 per runner. The first 500 registered runners will receive a DG5 tech race t-shirt.
New this year, the top three runners in each age group will win a custom DG5 Miler race medal. The top overall male and female runners and the top overall Downers Grove resident runners will also receive plaques.
The DG 5 Miler is a CARA Runners Choice Circuit race and attracts elite runners from across the Chicagoland area as well as local runners. For full details, and the race map, visit www.dgparks.org/5miler
Road Restrictions for June 26
On Sunday, June 26, parking and street restrictions will be in place for several hours in the morning. Runners check in for the race between 6 and 7 a.m. at the Lincoln Center parking lot, which will be closed to vehicular traffic until approximately 10:00 a.m.
The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic untilapproximately 9:00 a.m.:
Washington Street between Maple Avenue and 55th Street
Randall Street between Park Avenue and Webster Street
Webster Street between Summit and Randall Street (south entrance toLincoln Center)
Summit Street between Webster Street and Washington Street
Clyde Avenue between Main Street and 60th Place
60th Place between Main Street and Clyde Avenue
Webster Place between 59th Street and Washington Street
61st between Main Street and Washington Street
Lyman Avenue between Maple Avenue and 55th Street
Downers Grove Police will be directing traffic at the following intersections;Washington and 55th Streets, Washington and 59th Streets,Lyman Avenue and 55th Street, Main Street and 59th,Middaugh Avenue and 59th, and 59th and Grand Ave.
The 39th Annual 5 Miler is conducted by the Downers Grove Park District in cooperation with the Village of Downers Grove and CARA and sponsored by 4500 Fitness, Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, Downers Grove Pediatrics, Gugliuzza Law, and Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital.
