$60K In Construction Equipment Stolen In Downers Grove

Two Bobcat construction machines were stolen from the 1800 block of Ogden Ave. in Downers Grove.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Two pieces of Bobcat construction machinery valued at a total of $60,000 were stolen near a construction site in Downers Grove, according to police. Police say the theft happened in the back lot of Pugi Hyundai of Chicago Land at the 1866 Ogden Ave. sometime between 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 20 and 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 21.

A police summary shows that the construction equipment had been parked in the lot of Pugi Hyundai overnight after crews were done working in the far northeast corner of the car lot. When the construction employee returned, he noticed that the Bobcat and a sweeper attachment were missing from where he had left them.

After checking with other employees of his company, Norvilla Construction, and employees at Pugi Hyundai, the worker reported that the equipment had been stolen.

During an investigation Downers Grove Police were unable to find any footprints or tracks in the freshly laid dirt of the construction site. They determined the machinery was likely stolen from suspect(s) who entered the unsecured lot with a trailer.
